As with humans, horses can also experience soreness and tightness in muscles, stiffness in joints, physical imbalances, injury and pain when something isn't in balance. All of which can affect their range of motion and cause movement issues and dysfunction in the body.
As a qualified equine therapist, my job is to feel those things that are ‘just not quite right’ and see if we can start to understand why and provide relief and movement to those areas.
The body works as a unit: a fully integrated system meaning an issue in one area can cause a problem or symptom somewhere else. Nothing can be seen or treated in isolation. By understanding the layers and systems of the body and releasing tension and blocks, we can restore movement and balance through the self-healing ability of the body.
I provide equine manual therapy informed by osteopathic principles. I am not registered with the General Osteopathic Council as I do not practise human osteopathy.
